Bill's River Blog

June 29, 2009

Good Morning one and all, The weather says what, the day is entered and it is what it is. There is higher powers than what we have and the hand has been dealt. Wet, is what we play, you have no choice. Either you fish or not. Casting a fly upon the water has a certain hypnotic tendency, before you know it's no longer raining you are no longer cold, all melds away then there's a strike!!! Chances are you miss the first one or two, BUT game is on. Huh?? That was interesting, we'll keep that in mind, " little mental notes".

Well folks as you may have realized it's been raining. We certainly haven't had the rain that a t of you have had but it's been a little rain as of late with periods of heavy showers. But we've still been fishing alot and it's been great. We've only had to change plans on one float so far. Up here in the headwaters it's all dam controlled so there is no real tributaries immediately below the dams so it don't get muddy. Although I do suspect they will release more water now with the rain, it won't be dark just higher that will fish just fine as the trout adjust.

We've had a great past week, very busy and great fishing. The Hexagenia are coming off Back lake and the Andro had it's Alder fly hatch. And both were spectacles to behold. Throwing a Hexagenia dry is like throwing a small sparrow, and sits about the same on the water.

There have been fish to be caught...The floats have been very predictable and the ponds are just a fun time early a.m. or in the evening.

There has been many anglers on the waters these past few weeks, I feel more than in years past especially on the weekends. Not to worry there is still plenty of fishing and on a good day, catching. The river may seem crowded to some but a little walking will open up clear views. Now with this said obviously there be people out there and there is no reason to crowd anyone or jump in front of them if you know they are heading that way. Please we will all keep that in mind and practice a little etiquette and we'll all be able to play in the same sandbox together.

Thank you all folks, have a great week and a great Holiday weekend.  We'll see you all up. (but not to close)

   PEACE   tight lines,   BILL       >~:'}}'>
