Bill's River Blog June 2, 2009
So what's been happening?? Lots of fishing, Lots of guiding, and quite a few happy clients. The weather this past week has been a little less than stellar. It has had it's moments of beauty. But it has also been cold, windy, rainy, raw, and down right cruddy. Perfect fishing weather.Just yesterday we had a fairly violent storm roll through. Rain, hail high winds, it was something. This morning I struck out on a drift, as I looked across beautiful 1st Connecticut lake to Mt. Magalloway, there was snow in the higher elevations. But not to worry, there were no sightings of any sledheads. The fishing has been great. The smaller ponds have yielded very high numbers and the big lakes the gods have smiled upon. People have been trolling with good success from the reports I have heard. Our wade trips in the trophy stretch have been very popular. The crowds have subsided and the trout have been somewhat eager to please. We've also spent some time on the floats with more than ample results. We've been using nymphs and streamers on the Andro and dries and streamers on the Conn. We even spent better than half a day fishing for warmwater species. That day was crappy, but the fishing was good . We caught some nice pickerel a few smallmouth and had our shots at a few nice largemouth. Things are happening up here and we'll hope for good weather or at least better weather. But hey if we made it through the rain of last summer we can make it through this. And as always, it has kept the water flows up and the temps down. Again, perfect for trout. Peace, Tight Lines BILL >~;""}> Giggy gi gi gi..................sigh
