Bill's River Blog May 25, 2009
Blurry eyed, back stiff, fingers ache. Waken once again by the squelch of the 8 dollar alarm clock purchased at Rite Aid. A sigh..... Another day 4:30 again sigh......Coffee??? Morning bathroom??? Coffee or morning bathroom passes through your mind like molasses through concrete. Slippers on, coffee wins out!!! They say " you should see at least one sunrise every year" Hey,we should be thankful we've been busy and weather has been decent. Well we have been busy. LOTS of people we're around this past Holiday weekend. Wow!!!!! At times I was thinking there were more people than fish. And there are plenty of fish. We have still been fishing the inlet to Francis and some up the river a bit. There has been a fresh stocking through the more popular stretches of river. And also the ponds have had a very hearty and helpful hand. We have heard reports this past week of some very impressive catch's coming from the ponds. There has also been the same coming from the river, and also with that a report or two of some of the Brood Stock brookies. The river has had some selective fishing areas. Which means if your the first one there you can do real well and by mid day the fish have been made a bit more weary. At times it certainly is not for the Faint of heart. But there is still a shining light with people flocking to the freshly stocked Fracas. It was a wonderful time to sneak away from the crowds and catch some salmon on dry flies. It was only my guest and another pair of gentlemen on this stretch of river everyday and we were catching without the crowds. That's kinda neat. The float trips have been a delight. With really nobody else on the water and good weather and water flows it's been great. We've been on the Andro and also on the Conn. We had decent catch ratios and the opportunities to do more. Nice, and it's just really starting. We've caught everything that swims. And on all set ups. Dries, nymphs and streamers. The crowds should subside this week and we should be rocking. We'll be out there. If you all care to joins us, Please just give us a call. We'll take care of you. We'll show you a few tricks and helpers and if we do a full day we'll fix you up a nice lunch. Today we floated. The fishing was good and again the potential was greater. But the lunch was better. Cheese, crackers, and olives for an apt. A nice salad while the grill heats up. The main course consist of Steak tips, grilled peppers, mushrooms, grilled garlic bread. With the belly full........A few fish on record......Life is good and we still have a half day left. PEACE tight lines BILL P.S. anchors don't float >~;''}'>
