Hello, hello, spring has sprung and a man's thoughts turn from toil of the woods to the more relaxing pace of currents, seams and drifts we may never know. I think there was suppose to thoughts of women or something like that? Don't know? But for right know the reality is ICE is OFFICIALLY OUT on Lake Francis. The dam keeper called it it's OFFICIAL the EARLIEST ICE OUT EVER!!!! There is still some ice around and 1st Connecticut Lake has an ample amount, but it won't be long.
Everything is early this year. We're all fishing right now and it's not half bad. There has been fish caught in several different areas and some real beauties at that. The water temps are ranging from 39 to 41 degrees, we only need another 4 or 5 degrees for things to really start happening. The weather has been very delightful and the fishing isn't half bad. I had the chance to fish the past couple of days and I have not been disappointed.
The ice is also pulling off the smaller ponds and there have already been sightings of the early season stocking truck. We have pretty decent flows and the lakes are filling up nicely. For those of you who love to fish the early Salmon you all may want to set those plans in motion. It is conceivable this may really kick off in the next week or two. I've seen it happen early before, but never this early. It has potential to be great fishing and nobody's around yet. With the early season stocking and the the proper weather we could really be in for something great.
It looks like the weather for the next week is going to be favorable and we'll keep all our fingers crossed.
If any of you all are interested just give us a call.
