Sunset on Back Lake

Happy pre fall,or is it fall, or is it summer. It’s the middle of Sept. Holy crap!!!!! It’s the middle of Sept. To say that this seasons weather was all messed up would be an insult to crazy messed up weather everywhere. You don’t know whether your coming or going. Earlier this week we had morning temps in the low 30′s and this morning was 62. We had mid day high’s 47 degree’s cold windy and today hot, humid and pushing mid 80′s if we don’t know if were coming or going what do the trout think? Over all it’s been a very interesting fall, the leaves are starting to change and even to drop a little, apple stands have been popping up roadside throughout the North Country and even with all the messed up days we’ve had some nice seasonable days. You’ve got to love fall in New England.

Now how’s the fishing? We’ve had some really good times, I always enjoy this time of year. There are plenty of options our small streams have cooled down and with the recent rain water levels are good, they have been releasing more water out of the dams and the ponds have cooled and as you all know we really love our float trips. And we are not going to mention those red eye mothers and the skinny fish with the”Big, sharp, pointy teeth”. We’ve had some really great days fishing little bwo’s and some nice size caddis. It’s also a good time to fish small streamers in the little brooks and fishing the bigger waters with smelt patterns. This time of the year we’ll start heading over to the Andro and around here we’ll start looking for some Salmon to move in from the lakes.

Good times and looking forward to more of them.
